Tip: A Treat for Green Tea Lovers
Jessica over at authoritea recently wrote about an interesting use of Stash’s Iced Green Tea Powder. It seems that mixing the dry powder with vanilla bean ice cream creates a tasty frozen treat.
I may have to round up some of this green tea powder, because this idea sounds a lot like some tasty green tea ice cream I had when I was in Japan five years ago. Plus, if my mid-day caffeine kick also included an equally unhealthy sugar rush, how could I be any happier in life? ![]()

So…how’d it go??
Thanks for the props!

I saw the entry a while ago but am havong trouble locating some stash powder. When you do find it, could you say where you found it?

One should really use matcha for this. Most things labeled “green tea powder” are really powdered sencha, which has a much different taste characteristic than matcha. Not as green, tastes different. Further, there are many grades of matcha, from the typical “food grade” used in smoothies, etc, to ceremonial grades. The higher the grade, the better it will taste.
Anyway, you can use anything you wish but one should be aware of the differences.

Stash’s green tea leaves are sencha.

I use matcha powder, too. They create different tastes. I actually like the sencha more in vanilla ice cream because it has less of a grassy, strong taste. Most people do use Matcha though.
I bought the green tea powder from Stash’s website. I found it at the Fancy Food Show in NYC last year.
